HOME AWAY FROM HOME:
Old Age Homes
The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.
Some 3 million elderly in India are also homeless – without shelter, uncared for and exposed to the vagaries of nature. These elders are often sick, destitute, abandoned by their families and/or uprooted by disasters.
HelpAge India has established model homes for the senior citizens and aged in places such as Patiala & Gurdaspur in Punjab, Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu and Kolkata in West Bengal to provide refuge to the vulnerable and poor elderly who have no other place to call home HelpAge supports 300 such old age homes and runs 5 model homes for the aged in India.
